This past April, team members from Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Health & Wellness Center had the pleasure of attending the NIU Wellness Fair at Northern Illinois University. This event brought together a wide range of campus and community organizations, all focused on one collective mission: promoting overall well-being through the connection of “Healthy Body, Healthy Mind and Healthy Spirit.”
The fair offered a unique opportunity for local organizations and businesses to engage directly with NIU students, faculty, staff and other community members. We were proud to be part of an event that reflects our values and extends our reach beyond the walls of our center.
Throughout the day, attendees enjoyed access to a variety of wellness-focused activities and resources. Booths featured everything from healthy eating workshops and mental health support training to fitness tips and more. The fair provided an inspiring atmosphere where like-minded organizations educated and empowered individuals to take charge of their well-being.
Our team members were excited to share information about our services and speak directly with community members about their goals. “It was great to promote Kishwaukee Health and Wellness Center at a community event and to display what we can offer to NIU students and staff,” says Sandy Henley, a team member at the center. “The best part was being able to interact with the community and those who were not too familiar with the center,” she adds.
We had valuable conversations with students, faculty, and others who were eager to learn about the wide range of fitness and wellness services we offer. “I feel empowered to do even more for the community,” Sandy shares about her experience.
We believe that community engagement is a vital part of building connections. Being present at events like the NIU Wellness Fair helps us connect with, educate and inspire our neighbors to take the next step in their fitness journeys.
We’re grateful to Northern Illinois University for hosting such a thoughtful and well-organized event. We look forward to continuing to connect with our community.
